Abstract

Education is a conscious and systematic effort to achieve a better standard of living. Based on RI Law no. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System. Education is a conscious and planned effort to create a learning atmosphere and learning process so that students actively develop their own potential to have religious spiritual strength, self-control, intelligence, noble character and the skills needed by themselves, society and the nation. The formulation of the problem in this PTK is 1) How is the application of the Project Based Learning Model in learning Mathematics in the material "Rank and Form of Roots" in Class IX F of SMP Negeri 2 Jamblang, Cirebon Regency? 2) What are the students' activities in participating in Mathematics learning with the Project Based Learning Model on the material "Rank and Form of Roots" in Class IX F of SMP Negeri 2 Jamblang, Cirebon Regency? The purpose of this Classroom Action Research with the application of a Project Based Learning Model in learning mathematics is to improve the ability of Class IX F students of SMP Negeri 2 Jamblang Cirebon Regency in understanding learning material about "Rank and Root Forms", so that learning Mathematics becomes more fun and generate creativity. The research was conducted in Class IX F of SMP Negeri 2 Jamblang, Cirebon Regency, namely on the Mathematics lesson schedule regarding "Rank and Root Forms" with the Project Based Learning Model Wednesday, September 7, 2022 for Cycle I and September 14, 2022 for Cycle II. The subjects of this classroom action research were Class IX F students of SMP Negeri 2 Jamblang, Cirebon Regency for the 2022 - 2023 academic year. The selection of research subjects was based on the condition of the students in Class IX F as a whole, totaling 32 people, because it is assumed that the characteristics and abilities are considered relatively the same. The results of the research and discussion on the application of the Project Based Learning Model in learning Mathematics in the material "Rank and Form of Roots" in Class IX F of SMP Negeri 2 Jamblang, Cirebon Regency in cycles I and II can be concluded, that is, student learning outcomes in learning Mathematics show the initial results of an average score of 58.12. The results in the first cycle increased to an average score of 70, and the results in the second cycle increased to an average score of 83.75.
